Commercial pilot candidate

Step 1: Discovery Flight

Discovery flights, also known as introductory flights, provide an opportunity for individuals to experience the joy of flying an aircraft for the first time with the guidance of a Certified Flight Instructor. This 1 hour flight around Oahu will serve as a stepping stone for those interested in pursuing a private pilot license or simply as a fun and memorable experience.

Want to share the experience with your friends and family? Bring up to 2 people along for the ride. *Weight permitting

Step 2: Private Pilot

Private pilot training involves a comprehensive program of ground and flight instruction designed to teach you the knowledge and skills necessary to safely operate a single-engine aircraft. The training typically includes a minimum of 40 hours of flight time, as well as classroom instruction on topics such as aerodynamics, aircraft systems, and weather theory.

Training in Hawaii provides a unique and breathtaking environment for flight training, with its stunning natural scenery, diverse weather patterns, and challenging terrain. Students can expect to receive comprehensive flight instruction from experienced instructors, with a curriculum that emphasizes safety, situational awareness, and the use of advanced avionics systems.

Step 3: Instrument Rating

Instrument rating is a certification that allows a pilot to fly an aircraft solely by reference to instruments in conditions where visibility is reduced or even zero, such as during fog, clouds, or precipitation. Instrument training in Hawaii offers a unique and challenging experience for pilots seeking to master the skills needed to fly in complex weather conditions, including mountainous terrain, tropical storms, and strong winds. The state-of-the-art avionics systems available at PFA provide pilots with the latest technology and tools to succeed in their instrument rating training.

Step 4: Commercial Pilot

Commercial pilot training is designed to provide you with the knowledge and skills necessary to operate aircraft for hire, such as in the airline industry. The training includes advanced instruction on a range of topics, including advanced aerodynamics, aircraft performance, Federal Air Regulation, and emergency procedures. Mastery of your aircraft is proven with this professional certification.

Step 5: Certificated Flight Instructor

Most pilots that aim for the airlines get their Certificated Flight Instructor (CFI) certificate. Boost your hours while getting paid to teach other pilots how to fly. The training includes advanced instruction on teaching techniques, flight planning, and risk management, as well as extensive experience in teaching students in a variety of aircraft types. Get your CFI & CFI-I here!

Step 6: Multi-Engine Rating

One of the most enjoyable and quickest ratings to obtain. Our multi-engine training program includes advanced instruction on topics such as engine management, emergency procedures, and multi-engine aerodynamics, as well as extensive flight time in multi-engine aircraft. We offer MEI training as well.
